Arts Summary I
By Alex Johnson
The fall season of Arts is just starting. Theatre started out strong with bringing in two outside theater companies. One was a local Church that put on the show "Christos" in both Arabic and English on September 30th. I did not go and see Christos, so I don't know how exactly it went. But I did go and see the show "Screwtape Rewired" on September 26th. The script was based on the C.S. Lewis book "The Screwtape Letters", with Wormwood now being the mentor to a younger demon Dismal tormenting this couple Christy and Charlie. The entire show was put on by two actors, Alicia Bonham and Tim Stanlake, and the tech was completely done by an LCA student crew. The play itself was thought-provoking in a reverse psychology way and was well acted by Bonham and Stanlake, who used different accents to differentiate between the different characters. There was very little set design but lots of props, which made the show even more abstract instead of becoming fantasy trying to parade around as reality. Overall, it was two hours well spent. The visual arts department is also off to a great start and will begin decorating the halls with their masterpieces soon!
