Major Barbara was Fantastic!
By Alex Johnson
I'm going to be completely honest with you, my two readers; I did not understand this play. Like at all. I didn't understand the humor (except for Ann Rees Berry '17, I absolutely loved her character and thought she was hilarious). When I saw the dress rehearsal, I couldn't keep up with the characters. They were talking about very deep subject matters but it was hard to keep track with the subject matter and the relationships between the characters. But I had friends that went to the Friday night and they seemed to get it perfectly so maybe it was just me. But I'm all you got, so ha!
While I could not understand it, it didn't affect my view of the play because the actors and actresses were fantastic. Ranging from the leads in Will Stinson ('15) and Brianna Aguilar ('15) to minor characters like James Palmer ('16) and Garrett Tracer ('18), everyone's acting was stellar. It didn't matter that I had zero idea of what they were talking about; I was too taken with the acting. This production of Major Barbara proves that LCA sets a very high bar for theatre in terms of acting, which seems to be a common theme. For such a small school the amount of talent represented monthly through art exhibits, concerts, and plays is frankly astounding. 7/10
