On November 15th and 16th the Middle Schoolers performed Oedipus Re(mi)x for the LCA community, and it was great! It made us laugh, it made us cry, and even ponder how we would make decisions in a similar situation.

This Greek tragedy, written by Sophocles, tells the story of Oedipus, a man who was born with a terrible curse--he was to kill his father and marry his mother. Afraid of this prophecy, his parents, the king and queen of Thebes, bound his feet and threw him off a mountain, where he was found and taken to Corinth. When he grew up, his fate was revealed, and he ran away to Thebes in order to save who he thought was his father, but killed a man on the way, not realizing that his prophecy has started to unfold. When arrived in Thebes, he solved the riddle of the Sphinx and the people there make him their king.

Our story starts here, with Oedipus, played by Eli Perez (‘18), reassuring his people that he has come to help them and find out who murdered their beloved king. He seeks the help of many people, including his brother-in-law Creon, played by Henry Cassidy ('18) and the blind prophet, Tiresias, played by Jay Bologna ('18), who also played the god Apollo. The role of Jocasta was played by Harley Rusk ('19), and the Chorus of Thebans consisted of Hannah MacDonald ('20), Charlotte Moore ('20), Connor  Mulligan ('18), Amy Palmer ('20), and Nicole Romero ('20). The Peiest of Zeus was played by Michelle Chokureva ('18) and the messenger was played by Jill Stevens ('20).

Thank you to all who came to see the play! The cast and crew appreciated the support for their hardwork!
